Lutheran Church of the Ascension's 1983 Casavant Organ

Lutheran Church of the Ascension - Savannah, Georgia

We are very proud to inform you of our upcoming work at the historic Lutheran Church of the Ascension in Savannah, Georgia. The pipe organ at Church of the Ascension was built in 1983 by the Casavant organ company and contained some 50 ranks of pipes over three manuals. In 2003, the church entered into contract with a firm form Charleston, South Carolina to extensively rebuild the organ with a new console and many digital stops. Unfortunately, the contracted firm has been unable to complete this project. Upon our inspection, we found many chests left in a non-functional state, with pipes strewn about. We were honored to have been selected by the church to begin a phased restoration of the pipe organ to return it to its previous and functional condition.

In the interest of improved appearance to the sanctuary, we also installed the 16' Bourdon to the Great organ and then placed the current speakers for the digital organ on the main chest behind those pipes and remove the shoddy frame to both hide the speakers and help make the sanctuary more attractive. We will also remove all the currently uninstalled organ components to a secure off site storage location selected by the church.

It is an honor to work with this historic congregation to begin the process of returning this pipe organ to its proper condition. In such a beautiful and historic sanctuary, an excellent pipe organ is only appropriate. We are delighted to work with this church to find an appropriate route to returning this pipe organ to its original condition.
